Image Map
An image map is a graphics image which is used as a navigation tool. An image
map consists of the graphic displayed on the page, a map file with coordinates
of each linked area, and a CGI program. When you click on an image map, the CGI records
the coordinates of your mouse click and compares it to the map file. If your
coordinates match one of the criteria listed, the CGI sends you to the location,
action or document indicated by that area of the image map you selected. To see
an example of an image map, look at
Microsoft's home page.
